Fourth Quarter Winner Drawn In Quarterly Safety Initiative

Congratulations to DeWitt Farms, Inc. and DeWitt Produce Inc. for being selected at the Fourth Quarter Winner of the AgriTrust of Georgia Quarterly Safety Initiative.  Randy DeWitt carried on his family tradition of farming while still in high school by establishing his 500-acre farm in 1978.  Since that time, he has been able to expand his operation into “6,000 acres of row crops and vegetables with the help of our good Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and good employees.”

DeWitt Farms & Produce strives to provide a safe work environment and it starts from day one.  All new employees attend orientation covering food safety, machine safety, as well as Department of Labor and workers compensation guidelines.  This is a very large feat considering there are 30 full time employees and up to 350 seasonal employees annually.  Fortunately, the training does not stop there.  Throughout the year there are multiple “tail-gate” training sessions.  Randy DeWitt and his management team have decided to use their check for $2,000.00 to purchase prizes as incentives for their employees to think “Safety First” and to treat them to a nice meal.

AgriTrust of Georgia is a group self-insured workers’ compensation fund that provides workers’ compensation insurance coverage for the agricultural industry in the state of Georgia.
