2020 First Quarter Safety Initiative Winner
Bold Spring Nursery Pulaski, LLC Winner of AgriTrust of Georgia Quarterly Safety Initiative for First Quarter 2020
Bogart, Georgia – April 25, 2020 – Congratulations to Bold Spring Nursery Pulaski from Hawkinsville, Georgia for being named the First Quarter Winner of the AgriTrust of Georgia Quarterly Safety Initiative. Bold Spring Nursery specializes in growing shade trees on their farm to sell to landscape contractors and re-wholesalers. John Barbour and his wife Patty started growing trees in 1985 on 13 acres in Monroe, Georgia. Their business grew quicker than the trees they planted and had to expand. Now they grow and develop nearly 700 acres of beautiful trees near Hawkinsville, Georgia, and ship over 200 varieties of trees to 29 states and Canada.
Maintaining the high level of quality that Bold Spring Nursery is known for requires a lot of hard work. This is why they employee over thirty full-time employees as well as utilizing over thirty more H2A and contract workers. Having over sixty employees demands a strong safety presence. Bold Spring Nursery’s safety philosophy is simple, “always go one step further than you think you should to keep everyone safe.” Their safety program consists of multiple formal safety trainings throughout the month and countless toolbox talks during the work day. For their efforts, Bold Spring Nursery was selected as the winner for the AgriTrust of Georgia’s Quarterly Safety Initiative and has been presented with a check for $2,000.00. They plan on using this money to reward the operations employees, and show them safety does pay!
AgriTrust of Georgia is a group self-insured workers’ compensation fund that provides workers’ compensation insurance coverage for the agricultural industry in the state of Georgia.
